Droopy eyelids or bags under the eyes?
What is Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty helps correct the effects of aging around the eyes by removing excess skin folds and fat bags from the upper and / or lower eyelids. A successful operation will give you a more youthful and rested appearance.
How is it performed?
The upper and lower eyelids are marked and carefully incised along natural lines above and below the eyes, extending to the smile lines at the outer edges of the eyes. Once excess fat and skin have been removed, the incisions are carefully closed. The procedure, which may take from 1 to 2 hours, may be performed under local or general anaesthetic. You will probably feel more comfortable if you follow it by an overnight stay in the hospital.
How long will it take for the physical effects of the operation to disappear?
Bruising and swelling around the eyes should disappear after 2 to 3 weeks. Temporary blurred vision and excessive tear production may also occur for the first few days. Some scarring is inevitable, but these will be along the natural skin lines and creases and will fade with time.
