Dr Kippen is a qualified, Australian trained, Consultant Specialist, in Cosmetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has additional Australian and Overseas Fellowships and a special interest in Facial, Eye and Breast Surgery. Dr Kippen works in both the Public and Private sectors.

He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) [Plastic]), a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

After completing his medical degree in 1989 he completed 2 years in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery with 2 post-graduate Specialist Surgical exams. He then worked in a General Practice that included an Emergency Department with Aviation Medicine, Rescue Medicine and spent time in Critical and Intensive Care.

From this broad training base he rejoined the General Surgical training programme at Royal North Shore Hospital and went on to complete advanced surgical training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This included a Fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery and Hand Surgery. In the year 2003 he obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Dr Kippen then completed further fellowship training at a Specialist Plastic Surgery unit, in London. He obtained additional training in general plastic surgery and more specifically, all aspects of facial plastic surgery and breast surgery. The facial surgery included cosmetic, reconstructive and re-animation surgery. Specific breast surgery training included all cosmetic breast surgery and all techniques of breast reconstructive surgery.

Facial Plastic, Eye and Breast Surgery remain areas of special interest.

As his public appointment, Dr Kippen joined the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer. He also has appointments and admitting rights at Castlecrag, Delmar, Manly Waters, North Shore and the Sydney Adventist Private Hospitals. Day surgery procedures are performed at Pittwater Day Surgery in Mona Vale.

Dr Kippen is actively involved in teaching a wide range of audiences, from medical students to other doctors. He regularly attends local and international conferences to maintain his knowledge and skills.
