Dr Kalantar entered advanced training in Gastroenterology at Newcastle and Nepean Hospital and completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1996. He became the Clinical superintendent at Nepean Hospital until 1998. He became appointed as Staff specialist in Gastroenterology at Nepean Hospital and visiting medical officer at Blue Mountains Hospital. He then undertook an advanced motility fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Minnesota USA.

Special Interests

Dr Kalantar is interested in all aspects of Gastroenterology motility and Hepatology; functional GI diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome and dyspepsia, video capsule endoscopy (pill camera), inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders (constipation and faecal incontinence), viral and autoimmune hepatitis,  fatty liver, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He has special interests in motility research and education and is the chairman of Nepean hospital Human Research and Ethics Committee.
